What is inside

Built for the way the day actually goes

Check the date, put the radio on, glance at the rate, note the tithi for next week. Kura keeps all of it one tap away.

A patro that is actually complete

Every BS month with the AD date beneath it, tithi and paksha, festivals and public holidays — and the panchang for the day you tap.

Live radio from home

Kantipur, Radio Nepal, Kalika, CIN Khabar and more. Real streams, background playback, lock-screen controls.

Rates, refreshed hourly

Seven currencies against the rupee with the day's movement, and a converter that does the arithmetic for you.

Notes on any date

Jot down a shraddha, a jatra, a birthday in BS. Notes are tied to your account, not to one phone.

A community map

See what is happening nearby — a jam at the Garden of Dreams, a heritage fest in Patan — and drop your own moment on the map.

English and नेपाली

Flip the whole app between English and Nepali with one toggle. Dates, months and festival names come along.

Signed in once, synced everywhere

Continue with Google or Apple. Notes, favourite stations and preferences follow you to every device.

Fast and quiet

The calendar works without waiting on the network, and nothing shouts at you with notifications you did not ask for.

Daybook

One card for the day — worth sending to someone

Every day gets a card: the Bikram Sambat date, the Gregorian date underneath, the tithi, and the panchang strip with nakshatra, yoga, karana, sunrise and sunset. Tap share and it leaves the app as a clean image for Viber, WhatsApp or the family group.

The card changes its dress with the day. An ordinary Tuesday gets ivory paper and a maroon date. A sankranti turns evergreen. A festival brings gold, and the big ones arrive in full colour.

Kura — the community

What is happening, where it is happening

Kura means talk. The community map shows posts from people around you — a live acoustic set in Jhamsikhel, a heritage fest in Patan, forty-two photographs from Basantapur this afternoon. Add yours in a tap.

What is happening, where it is happening

Posts from around the valley. New posts rise to the top and older ones settle down the list, so the map leans towards what is going on right now.

Questions

Before you download

What is Kura?

Kura is a free Nepali patro (calendar) app for iPhone and Android that brings the Bikram Sambat calendar, a full panchang, live Nepali radio, hourly currency exchange rates, Nepali news and a community map into one place. It's built for anyone who wants a piece of home a tap away — in Kathmandu, in the diaspora, or anywhere in between.

How much does Kura cost?

Kura is free to download, and the basics stay free — the panchang, currency and forex checking, and Kura's core tabs, plus up to 3 personal notes. An optional subscription, Kura Pro, adds calendar sync across your devices, background music playback for the radio, unlimited personal notes, and an ad-free experience.

Do I need an account to use the Nepali patro or radio?

No. The Bikram Sambat calendar, panchang, live radio and currency rates all work the moment you open the app — no sign-up required. An account only matters once you want notes, favourite radio stations and settings to sync across more than one device; signing in with Google or Apple takes seconds.

Which devices does Kura run on?

Kura runs on iPhone and Android. Both apps are in final store review, and the App Store and Google Play buttons on this page turn live the moment each build is approved.

How accurate is Kura's Bikram Sambat calendar and panchang?

Kura calculates the BS-to-AD (Bikram Sambat to Gregorian) conversion, tithi, paksha, nakshatra, yoga, karana, and sunrise and sunset specifically for Nepal, and festival dates follow the officially published Nepali patro. These are the same panchang details that rashifal and muhurta calculations are built on, so Kura is a dependable daily reference whether or not you follow rashifal separately.

Does Kura show rashifal (horoscope) readings?

Not yet. Kura's Daybook already shows the tithi, nakshatra, yoga and karana for every day — the exact panchang inputs a rashifal reading is calculated from — but a personalised horoscope isn't built into the app yet. It's on our roadmap; email admin@nepalikura.app if you'd like to see it sooner.

Does Kura track gold and silver prices in Nepal?

Not yet. Kura's Aaja screen currently tracks seven major currencies — USD, CAD, AUD, AED, GBP, EUR and KWD — against the Nepali rupee, refreshed every hour, alongside the day's Nepali news. Gold and silver rates are on our roadmap — write to admin@nepalikura.app if that's something you'd use.

Can I check currency exchange rates and forex against the Nepali rupee?

Yes. Kura's Aaja tab refreshes seven currencies — USD, CAD, AUD, AED, GBP, EUR and KWD — against the NPR every hour, with a built-in converter so you don't have to do the arithmetic yourself, plus the day's top Nepali news headlines on the same screen.

Can I use Kura fully in Nepali?

Yes. A single toggle in the header switches the entire app between English and नेपाली — dates, month names, festival names and every screen come along with it.

How do I report a problem, request a radio station, or suggest a feature?

Write to admin@nepalikura.app. Station requests, festival-date corrections, bug reports and feature requests — including rashifal and gold rates — are all genuinely read and help shape what we build next.

How is Kura different from other Nepali patro apps?

Most Nepali calendar apps stop at the patro. Kura pairs a complete Bikram Sambat calendar and panchang with live Nepali radio, hourly currency rates, Nepali news, shareable daybook cards and a community map — so you're not switching between four apps to get through an ordinary day. It's built to be the one Nepal app you actually keep on your home screen.
